Redemption @BackStreetBrew!

The sweet taste of victory had not been tasted by the #Lagalots for the last two weeks of #PopQuizTrivia and we were hungry like the wolf.

We had failed miserably the last time as a team, would tonight be a pathetic repeat?  Heather and Paul are moving out and on and up to another city soon so this was our last time playing with them for a long while.

It was the Minicks and the Leonards on this momentous occasion.  Ck & Carie were probably busy getting it on Leprechaun style in a castle in Ireland…but who is to judge?

The green2Go food truck was there again and Paul and Heather tried their bowls.  #liveg2g offers one with tofu and two more with meat and they start at $10.  The serving sizes are small but I’m just as pleased as a pig in shit that they offer tofu.  One of these day’s I will not eat dinner before trivia and get a tofu bowl to eat.

When we got there, Heather and Paul had already ordered their beers.  Paul went with a Jagged Little Pilsner, a nice light beer to start off with, and Heather had her Holy Shizz Imperial Red Ale that she loves because it is 10.2%.  Now that’s some ABV to write home about!  Sean disappeared inside for two minutes and came back with beers for us, he had the Set Sail IPA and I copied Paul with a delicious Pilsner.

In the first round, we scored 4 with 2 wrong answers. We got the 2010 Most Powerful Woman wrong, it was Michelle Obama and not Angela Merkel.

We also got a math question wrong about some old Italian guy who made up some number sequence or something.  But coming in at 3rd place with a score of 4 is not too shabby.  Donkey Punching Kangaroo’s had the lead with a perfect score of 6.

 

 

 

The second round was to name 10 states that the Mississippi River goes through.  Paul is not only the sports expert but the US geography champion so we gave the answer sheet to him and let him go crazy.  When the dust settled, we got 9 correct and had a total score of 13 with DPK’s still in the lead by 2 points.

Round three was a bitch. We knew 2 Terrier breeds that weren’t named after countries but the third one, we missed.  We also knew 2 car models from different makers but didn’t get the third one either.  The last question wanted us to name three of the top listened-to artists on Spotify in 2015.

We guessed Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and some other singer and we were completely wrong!  We were way off.  We were so way off that I hadn’t even heard of the top 3 artists that were given during the answers.  That’s a young person’s game, my friend.  But we got 5 points added to our score so we didn’t complain. He might have given us credit for one of the questions because our total went to 18.  We were still tied for third place.

Round 4 handed us the task of naming 10 news anchors using their picture.

Luckily, Paul is a freaking super genius and knew 6 or 7 of them right off the bat.  Sean and Heather put in their two cents to get a few more names.  There was one picture we didn’t know and we just wanted to fill in any answer so I thought of Greta Van Susteren but I was sadly wrong.  Otherwise, we would’ve had a perfect round.  Our score at this point was 27 and we were tied for first place with a team named Instinct.

 

 

 

In round five, Paul and I immediately thought the Guess Who was Andy Samberg and we were convinced of it for 3 clues.  Paul wanted to turn it in after the second clue but Sean and I stuck to our guns and said, “Wait until the third clue!”

It was a good thing we did because in the third clue, we found out the sex of the person in question was a female so Paul and I were totally  wrong with the Lazy Sunday artist.

 

 

 

Heather started thinking really hard and she came up with Amy Schumer based on the clue that she was photographed by Annie Leibowitz at one point.

We knew that was the right answer so we turned in our answer sheet after the third clue and ended up getting six points for that round bringing our total to 33 and still tied with Instinct.

The last round would determine the winner and we were ready.  Round six is just a blur at this point as I switched my beer of choice to a Set Sail IPA and it’s a bit stronger than I am used to on trivia night.

That and other stuff!

 

We ended up getting 5 questions right.  We knew teriyaki, the word “Gusto,” Genghis Khan, assassins, and Fender but don’t ask me what the questions were…lol!

 

 

 

 

So the final standing score was 38 for team Lagalots and 36 for Instinct.  We would’ve just won right there but Instinct had the luck of getting the bonus question correct so they got to roll the die to see what fate would deal them.

They got the choice to answer a 1 point, 2 point, or 3 point question and they decided to get greedy and go for the 3 pointer which would put them in the lead and snatching the victory from our cold dead hands.

The question was, “Who was Mary Surratt?”

And for 3 points to take the lead….

 

The anticipation grew and grew until I felt like it was choking me as we waited anxiously to see if they knew the answer.  They obviously didn’t know and were stalling their demise.

And guess what?  They didn’t know!  We won trivia again!  We were back on top!

Mary Surratt, if you’re curious, was the first woman executed by the federal government for being a coconspirator in the plot to assassinate Lincoln.

So both teams took home a growler each and it’s chilling in my fridge right now getting ready for me to enjoy the taste of victory.  I love #winning!
